SDG 10: Reduced inequalities

The 2030 Agenda defines SDG 10 as follows: reduce inequality within and among countries. Switzerland is making every effort to achieve this goal and its targets by 2030.

What is SDG 10 about?

SDG 10 stands for equal opportunities and freedom from discrimination. Its aim is to allow all to participate appropriately in social, cultural, political and economic life.

Global inequalities are one of the greatest obstacles to furthering sustainable development and reducing poverty. SDG 10 thus specifically aims at sustained income growth for the poorest 40% of the population. By 2030, everyone should continue to be empowered to exercise rights of self-determination, and their social, economic and political inclusion should be encouraged. Equal opportunity is to be ensured by abolishing discriminatory laws, policies and practices. There is a need to facilitate people's orderly and safe migration and mobility, including through responsible migration policies. Developing countries must be better represented in international economic and financial institutions and have a greater say in decision-making.

The Federal Council is committed to implementing the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development together with all UN member states by 2030. The federal government will provide an assessment of how well Switzerland has achieved each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This will be based on an analysis of key progress and challenges for each of the total 169 targets.

How well has Switzerland progressed in its implementation of SDG 10?

What, specifically, is Switzerland doing to achieve SDG 10 and its targets? What do the figures say? What progress has Switzerland made? What challenges still need to be addressed? And who is involved in implementation?

You'll find the answers on SDGital2030.ch.
