SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities
The 2030 Agenda defines SDG 11 as follows: make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. Switzerland is making every effort to achieve this goal and its targets by 2030.

What is SDG 11 about?
SDG 11 aims to achieve sustainable and long-term spatial development that contributes to compact and resilient human settlement growth and emphasises the importance of access to adequate housing for all.
More than half of the world's population lives in cities, with an expected increase to as much as 70% by 2050. SDG 11 aims to reduce the per-capita environmental impact of cities, particularly with regard to air quality and waste management. Urban development must be made more inclusive and sustainable, through methods including participatory, integrated and sustainable settlement planning. In addition, universal access to safe and inclusive green and public spaces must be guaranteed, especially for women and children, older persons and persons with disabilities. Access to safe and affordable housing and transport systems must also be ensured.
The Federal Council is committed to implementing the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development together with all UN member states by 2030. The federal government will provide an assessment of how well Switzerland has achieved each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This will be based on an analysis of key progress and challenges for each of the total 169 targets.
How well has Switzerland progressed in its implementation of SDG 11?
What, specifically, is Switzerland doing to achieve SDG 11 and its targets? What do the figures say? What progress has Switzerland made? What challenges still need to be addressed? And who is involved in implementation?
You'll find the answers on SDGital2030.ch.
