SDG 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions
The 2030 Agenda defines SDG 16 as follows: promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels. Switzerland is making every effort to achieve this goal and its targets by 2030.

What is SDG 16 about?
SDG 16 demands a reduction in all forms of violence, the end of torture, and action to combat all forms of organised crime. It also calls for a significant decline in corruption and bribery, and illicit financial and arms flows.
Peace and functioning institutions are the essential foundation for the sustainable development of any society. SDG 16 thus focuses on laying this foundation and aims to promote inclusive and peaceful societies by 2030. Equal access to justice must be ensured and the rule of law advanced. This must be bolstered by building and further developing strong, participatory institutions at all levels, nationally and internationally.
The Federal Council is committed to implementing the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development together with all UN member states by 2030. The federal government will provide an assessment of how well Switzerland has achieved each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This will be based on an analysis of key progress and challenges for each of the total 169 targets.
How well has Switzerland progressed in its implementation of SDG 16?
What, specifically, is Switzerland doing to achieve SDG 16 and its targets? What do the figures say? What progress has Switzerland made? What challenges still need to be addressed? And who is involved in implementation?
You'll find the answers on SDGital2030.ch.
