SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

The 2030 Agenda defines SDG 17 as follows: strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development. Switzerland is making every effort to achieve this goal and its targets by 2030.

What is SDG 17 about?

SDG 17 focuses on facilitating sustainable development around the world, and in developing countries specifically. From the Swiss perspective this relates primarily to its engagement in its international cooperation work, and to its responsibility to promote positive economic conditions around the world.

Under SDG 17, developed countries renewed their pledge to spend 0.7% of their gross national income on official development assistance. In order to depend less on foreign support, domestic resources must be mobilised more effectively. International cooperation on science, technology and innovation must be strengthened and an equitable multilateral trading system promoted. In addition, macroeconomic stability and policy towards sustainable development must be pursued.

The Federal Council is committed to implementing the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development together with all UN member states by 2030. The federal government will provide an assessment of how well Switzerland has achieved each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This will be based on an analysis of key progress and challenges for each of the total 169 targets.

How well has Switzerland progressed in its implementation of SDG 17?

What, specifically, is Switzerland doing to achieve SDG 17 and its targets? What do the figures say? What progress has Switzerland made? What challenges still need to be addressed? And who is involved in implementation?

You'll find the answers on SDGital2030.ch.
