SDG 7: Affordable and clean energy
The 2030 Agenda defines SDG 7 as follows: ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. Switzerland is making every effort to achieve this goal and its targets by 2030.

What is SDG 7 about?
SDG 7 calls for universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services. In the interests of sustainable development, the proportion of renewable energies should be increased substantially and the global energy efficiency improvement rate doubled.
Access to energy is essential in achieving many sustainable development aims, such as overcoming poverty and increasing food production. Moreover, sustainable development requires climate-friendly economic growth, which is why SDG 7 calls for the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix to be increased substantially and the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency to be doubled. Research in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency should be promoted, alongside investments in energy infrastructure and clean energy technologies.
The Federal Council is committed to implementing the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development together with all UN member states by 2030. The federal government will provide an assessment of how well Switzerland has achieved each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This will be based on an analysis of key progress and challenges for each of the total 169 targets.
How well has Switzerland progressed in its implementation of SDG 7?
What, specifically, is Switzerland doing to achieve SDG 7 and its targets? What do the figures say? What progress has Switzerland made? What challenges still need to be addressed? And who is involved in implementation?
You'll find the answers on SDGital2030.ch.
